January 23, 2012, Portland, OR Viewpoint Construction Software kicks off a comprehensive Service Management Suite with the launch of Work Order Management. Developed for Specialty Contractors doing work-order based service calls as well as General- and Heavy/Civil Contractors who need to track small jobs where job costing may be too complex, the Work Order Module easily creates work orders, schedules work, captures work performed for labor, materials and equipment, and bills quickly.
Contractors can easily manage customer sites and track customer work history. Integration with Viewpoint’s Payroll, Purchasing, Inventory, Equipment Management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger modules ensures contractors avoid duplicate entry and processing errors while improving productivity and cash flow.
Work Order Management includes:
- Quick Customer Response with Inbound Call Taking. Facilitate fast response to customer calls. Quickly locate customers and service sites while fielding inbound service requests and initiate work orders on-the-fly, access equipment details and repair or maintenance history as well as verify warranty coverage. Dispatchers have all the information they need to respond to the customer.
- Streamlined Work Order Processing providing easy work order creation, scheduling and management from beginning to end.
- Flexible, multiple work order billing including custom invoice formats
- Productivity and Profitability Reporting by customer and technician so they know where they stand and what resources are available at all times.
"I've been pleased that Viewpoint has always allowed us to work the way we like to work and now we have the Work Order Management piece which allows that flexibility as well. Like all of Viewpoint V6 Software, Work Order Management is flexible enough for us to configure the system to the way we do business (and reports too).” Steve DeBennedetto of Stansell Electric said. “Other software providers tell you they have the silver bullet to ‘change the way you do business’. We don’t want to change the way we do business. We want software that adapts to how we do business and lets us configure as we need to, allowing people to work in a way that they’re comfortable with."
Work Order Management features Work Centers – a completely new, intuitive workflow that debuted with the new Project Management module introduced in early fall. Both were developed out of customer and industry feedback. Additional components to Service Management are forthcoming in our next release.

Viewpoint Construction Software continued its trend of rapid growth by celebrating another highly successful quarter and record software sales.
Receiving high marks for its V6 integrated software suite and capitalizing on industry buzz around the new 6.4 release of its revamped Project Management module, software sales revenue grew an unprecedented 86% in Q3 over the same period in 2010. Year-to-date growth was equally strong coming in 66% higher than the same period in 2010. According to Jim Paulson, Chief Operating Officer, “Viewpoint continues to experience record software sales revenue growth and the excitement around the project management capabilities built into the 6.4 release is gaining momentum in the marketplace. Not only did we see an 86% growth in new software sales this quarter, new customer counts through September equaled the total number of customers added all of last year.” Paulson emphasized that the company’s success is a direct result of Viewpoint continuing to invest throughout the economic downturn in its people, product development, and services.
“Contractors are taking advantage of the slowdown by looking at technology options that can give their company an edge when things pick up again,” said Paulson. “Our product team has done a fantastic job with our latest 6.4 release delivering substantive improvements to what is already widely perceived to be the best integrated construction software suite in the industry.Companies looking for a strong Project Management tool will love our new “workplace” user interface that provides a PM with an immediate snapshot of the overall business and job progress.”
Viewpoint’s future and pipeline looks even brighter so the company is ramping up hiring in key areas to prepare for even more growth in 2012. A major factor in 2011’s success was having a clear staffing plan in place to prepare for rapid growth. By putting training programs in place and increasing the employee base from 150 to 235 across all functional areas over the past two years, Viewpoint was able to bring 6.4 to the market, increase overall sales revenue, and ensure it still has room to grow. One barometer of this is the fact that Viewpoint’s customer satisfaction scores are also at an all-time high – a testament to its continued investment in its product and people. Moving towards year end, Viewpoint is seeing even more growth on the horizon as they roll out the next highly anticipated components of 6.4 including its new Service Management module. “While we have never been better positioned to meet the needs of our customers, we know that our continued growth requires adding even more sharp minds to the organization.” Paulson concluded, “We have excellent opportunities available for salespeople, consultants, support, and software developers as we ramp up for continued growth in 2012. Interested parties can always check out the careers section of our viewpointcs.com website for updated postings.”
Viewpoint Construction Software announces the highly anticipated Viewpoint V6 Software® 6.4 release, designed as the next evolution in the way customers view, manage and leverage their critical data. After months of compiling feedback and insight from customers regarding solutions they’d like to see in the next release, 6.4 includes enhancements to the user experience and improved process efficiencies in key areas such as Project Management, Pre-Construction and Business Intelligence. Customers will also be introduced to Work Centers, a centralized place to view graphical information in a dashboard format for fast, efficient data at a glance. According to Viewpoint Vice President of Product Development, Rob Humphreys, “After listening to customers, it was clear that having one area where an immediate snapshot of the overall business and job progress could be found was important. It would be the key to streamlining efficiencies and making smarter decisions.” With that in mind, Humphreys declared, “Work Centers became the core focus of the 6.4 release.”
Work Centers is the real centerpiece of 6.4. Configurable by user to pull information together in a centralized location, Work Centers is particularly beneficial to Project Management as a single place to navigate records, view document logs and launch, edit and perform tasks. Humphreys explained, “With an enhanced change order process and a dashboard for viewing critical data, project managers now have their own central location to track and log critical information and view related records.”
“The simplistic, logical workflow of Work Centers is very impressive. The staff has been particularly excited about how much easier the RFI process can be, mainly because we were very involved with the design,” said Diane Elliot, Project Manager at HBE Corporation in St. Louis, MO. “The ability for our executives to view cost projections in Work Centers alone has been worth every penny of the purchase.”
Customers also wanted a way to ensure the decisions that they were making were the right ones, so built into 6.4 is new Business Intelligence parts delivering timely feedback on business performance, helping reduce profit fade and driving overall performance across all construction operations.
Rounding out the 6.4 release is Financial Manager, a flexible reporting, budgeting and planning tool and enhancements to several additional V6 modules including Accounts Payable, Document Management, Payroll, Pre-Construction, and Viewpoint Connects. Additionally a new help system was created as part of the release to link users to the Viewpoint Knowledge Base, a resource of frequently asked questions, tips and information about Viewpoint V6 Software.
Viewpoint continues to establish its position as a complete solutions provider in the specialized ERP construction software market space. CEO Jay Haladay explained, “The essence of 6.4 is best captured with the tagline, ‘All Together Now.’ Like the pieces of a puzzle, 6.4 brings together all the critical data associated with your business and on-going projects so that you have an immediate view as to where you stand. Version 6.4 really ties together the business related activities across your entire organization.” Looking ahead, he concluded, “Viewpoint V6 Software continues delivering on its promise of being a truly integrated and easy to use software suite. Version 6.4 is positioned to make the user experience better than ever – the feedback so far has been phenomenal and we look forward to exceeding our customer’s expectations with this latest release.”

Portland, OR – The second quarter of 2011 saw Viewpoint Construction Software pass through some significant milestones and continue on some important trend lines.
First, Viewpoint celebrated its 35th anniversary in June. “Viewpoint has been serving the needs of the construction market for 35 years, and we are making decisions consistent with another 35+ years of service to this dynamic industry,” noted Jay Haladay, Viewpoint’s CEO. “Our continued reinvestment in our products, services, and employees has provided a very stable base for the future of Viewpoint, its customers, business partners and other key stakeholders.”
This continuing reinvestment underscores other significant milestones and exciting trends for Viewpoint. With the publication of the 2011 ENR400 in May, Viewpoint exceeded an important goal of increasing users within this elite group. Over 20% of the ENR400 constructors (85) use Viewpoint V6 Software® as their mission critical accounting and operations software. This number has grown rapidly over the past four years and Viewpoint is adding ENR400 members at an increasing rate. “While the ENR400 members do have unique needs, we have seen our customer base grow in all segments of the construction market,” highlighted David De Rego, Viewpoint’s Director of Marketing. “Viewpoint added 59 new customers during the first half of 2011. This represented a 40% or greater rate of new customer adoption versus the first half of 2010.”
Revenue also continues rising with 35% growth over Q2 2010 and software sales in Q2 2011 growing 50% over the same period last year. According to DeRego, a strong component to the increased sales numbers is the market’s awareness of Viewpoint products and services. “Our focus on collaboration with customers creates a real partnership and we hear repeatedly at tradeshows and in daily communications that customers are extremely pleased not only with our software, but also with the continuous support they receive. The industry buzz couldn’t be better.”
Viewpoint’s growth has not been at the sacrifice of customer satisfaction. During the second quarter Viewpoint performed its annual customer satisfaction survey. “While the complete analysis of results is still underway, we are pleased to report that overall satisfaction scores continued to trend upward,” noted Pam Snodgrass, Viewpoint’s Manager of Customer Quality. “This annual feedback from our customers is very important, and we take great care in designing our survey to comply with best practices. In addition to gauging overall satisfaction, our customers provide detailed feedback in a variety of areas that allow us to continue identifying and acting upon improvement opportunities.”
“Viewpoint has developed a unique customer-centric culture. We believe that this shows through in both our year to year product enhancements and overall high level of customer support. Those contractors making software decisions appear to be recognizing these positive attributes as they adopt new software to prepare for their futures” concluded Haladay.
Viewpoint Construction Software saw continued growth through the first four months of 2011. Total revenues were up 22% and new customer additions increased 50% over the same four month period in 2010. This growth comes from both the North American and Australian construction markets. “With so many contractors looking for both solid technology and long-lasting partnerships to efficiently grow, we are pleased they are attracted to both our product capabilities and collaborative company culture” said Jay Haladay, Viewpoint’s CEO. “The interest in Viewpoint’s products and services has never been higher.”
Even with the record growth, customer satisfaction has been growing as well. One significant factor in Viewpoint’s high customer satisfaction is the continuing investments being made to Viewpoint’s product suite. Customers are currently getting a preview of Viewpoint V6 Software release 6.4, due to ship to all supported clients in September. The reaction from one customer, Scott Berlinger of HBE Corp of St. Louis, MO, is typical. “I’ve been in Information Systems for 35 years and have never seen anyone nail product capabilities like Viewpoint” he said after the overview. HBE Corp is migrating to Viewpoint V6 Software from another construction-specific ERP suite. “It has impressive ease of use and flexibility.” Scott continued, “We anticipate significant savings and productivity gains with Viewpoint.”
Release 6.4 holds powerful new functionality and ease of use characteristics, especially for the operational side of construction firms. Introducing the concept of Project Work Centers, V6 is providing construction field staff efficient and task-specific functionality to help deliver on-time projects. And because it is integrated with the rest of the Viewpoint suite, all project, financial, human resource, equipment, and other operational data are at everyone’s fingertips.

PortlandbasedViewpoint Construction Software® today announced a new affordable software package for smaller mid-sized General Contractors in the U.S. looking for an integrated construction-specific software solution with subscription-based, monthly payments. The Viewpoint V6 Fast Track™ program features innovative cloud computing technology; eliminating heavy up front licensing fees, the need to purchase server and desktop systems and allows customers to keep their software up-to-date without having to invest in additional IT staff. According to Henry Ferguson, Viewpoint’s Director of Managed Services, “Cloud computing provides access to the software from anywhere and allows customers to minimize worries about back-up and security issues while placing more emphasis on increasing their ability to scale up or down based on fluctuations in the industry.”
Viewpoint’s smaller prospects have been seeking a way to improve their cash flow, manage subcontractors and have job costing, accounting and payroll rolled into one integrated solution. And since cost is always a factor, a convenient monthly subscription option allowing low monthly payments is an attractive component of Fast Track. Viewpoint CEO, Jay Haladay explained that the Fast Track program was developed “for our smaller mid-sized customers looking for modern technology with a minimal up-front cost commitment that will help them experience smoother, easier and ultimately more profitable jobs.”
Designed with predefined industry-standard databases for a fast and efficient implementation, Fast Track was specifically designed for the contractor who is looking for an innovative solution that can be counted on to provide the same results as options requiring a more customized implementation approach. Haladay explained, “Fast Track is backed by Viewpoint Construction Software’s thirty-five years in the business. It’s a solution designed to give smaller mid-sized General Contractors a competitive advantage in a very closely-battled marketplace.”
Portland based Viewpoint Construction Software celebrates its third straight year of unprecedented growth with 88 new customers - a 54% increase over 2009. Thirty of those customers joined in Q4 alone. 2010 saw Viewpoint’s total revenues increase 42% over 2009, allowing Viewpoint to triple its revenues in five short years.
“Our 2010 growth bodes well for the next few years ahead. Every time we add a new customer, the marketplace is placing a vote of confidence in Viewpoint’s products, services, and collaborative company culture. While the economy may be slow to rebound, contractors are starting to see more projects in their business pipeline. They recognize that a contemporary software infrastructure for their firm is the best way to meet their growth objectives in a cost effective manner. As a result, many are turning to Viewpoint to effectively manage their businesses and remain competitive in the toughest business climate many have ever seen,” said Jay Haladay, CEO. “I would be surprised if any other software provider to the North American and Australian markets had this kind of growth in 2010. Even with substantial investments made in Viewpoint during 2010, we retained our history of profitable business operation. This will fuel increased investments in 2011.”
“It has been important for our customers, and the broader market, to know that we are matching this growth with substantial investments in our staffing. Viewpoint’s staff grew from 150 to 215 over the period of January 2010 to January 2011, allowing us to not just stay ahead of our high standards of customer support, but to improve upon them,” notes Jim Paulson, Viewpoint’s Chief Operating Officer. Viewpoint’s continued investment in a comprehensive Construction Lifecycle Management platform is expected to deliver even more value to more contractors. “Over 60 development team members continue to add enhanced functionality every day to our robust product suite. And Viewpoint’s new customers are finding worries about challenging software migrations alleviated by Viewpoint’s straightforward and focused implementation roadmap.” 90% of Viewpoint new customer migrations are completed ahead of schedule and under budget. “Finally” Paulson adds, “Even with this growth, Viewpoint’s customers continue to experience “best of class” customer support that responds quickly, accurately and courteously within minutes, even at peak times, not the hours or days that have become commonplace in the construction software market. In fact, while our customer satisfaction scores have traditionally been very high, they have actually risen in 2010 over 2009.”
2010 also saw the successful launch of two major strategic initiatives – a VIP program for construction-specific CPA, bonding, and insurance firms and a Development Partner program that enhances the integration of third-party software into Viewpoint. Already gaining momentum in 2011, Viewpoint developed and deployed a complete Managed Services cloud computing platform that will also facilitate development of a streamlined product offering geared toward smaller commercial general contractors. Finally, the recently announced acquisition of CIS partners has enabled Viewpoint to establish a convenient, professional training facility for our east coast customer base.
There is no question that new technologies are finding their ways deeper into construction firms. The best and most prevalent example is mobile technology. Whether it’s a smart phone, tablet, or other type of portable device, these units are making their way into everyone’s pocket or briefcase. And Viewpoint is there” Haladay concluded, “In 2010, Viewpoint added over 500 features to its product and this will accelerate in 2011.”
Don Fornes of Software Advice spent some time at our 2010 User Conference this fall, and posted this 20 minute interview with Jay Haladay, CEO of Viewpoint Construction Software.
